In a thousand years, someone will read your story

From a stone carved 2300 years ago, to data that spans a millennium.

Greetings, gentlemen of later ages

Gongchengde · Shouqiu Tomb of the Zhongshan King · Pingshan

In the 4th century BC, a tomb caretaker named Gongchengde carved a line of words in front of the tomb of a Zhongshan king, in what is now Pingshan, Hebei:

“ Greetings, gentlemen of later ages. ”

Twenty-three hundred years later, archaeologists found this stone. It is called the Gongchengde Shouqiu stele — one of the earliest monumental stone inscriptions in China.

An ordinary man, watching over a tomb, carved his words into stone. He did not know if anyone would ever read them, or when.

Someone did. In 2026, we read them.

He waited 2300 years. We will keep waiting.

Gongchengde used stone to send a message across two thousand years.
We use data to keep messages for one thousand years.

This is not the arrogance of technology — it is a tribute to Gongchengde.
What he did in the 4th century BC, and what we do in 2026, is the same thing:

Keep who you are right now, for the people of the future.

Maybe, a thousand years from now, someone will really read these words.

3026 Project ("we", "us") runs this site at 3026alive.com. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it. If you have questions, email alive3026@163.com.

Information we collect

  • Registration: your name, a way to reach you, an email address, an age range, a written message, and a photo.
  • Wall of Voices / comments: the text you post and the name you choose.
  • Stored on your device: a short device identifier and your Wall of Voices entries are kept in your browser's localStorage. This never leaves your device.

How we use it

To keep your message and photo safe as part of a long-term memory archive, to assign you a permanent number, to show your message to visitors now and in the future, and to process payment.

Legal basis

We rely on your consent when you register and post. Your message is kept as part of a historical archive for the purpose of preserving the memory of our time — the archival and historical-research exception of the GDPR (Article 89) applies. This is why we keep messages after you post them.

Who we share it with

  • PayPal processes payments. Their privacy policy applies when you pay: paypal.com/privacy.
  • Our hosting provider stores the data on our server.

Retention and removal

We keep your message and photo as part of the archive for as long as the project exists. If you want your message removed from the public archive, contact us and we will act within 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your information, to object to processing, and to complain to a data-protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact alive3026@163.com.

Cookies

We do not use cookies, advertising, or analytics trackers. We only use browser localStorage on your device.

Children

This site is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us.

We cannot promise that any technology will last forever. What we do promise is our effort: to keep the words and photos you leave, and to store them as part of the archive for as long as the project exists.

Your content

You keep the rights to your message and photo. You grant us a non-exclusive right to store, display, and preserve them as part of the archive.

You agree not to post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, or that infringes others' rights. Please write your own story, memories, and dreams.

Payment

Becoming an Ancient is a paid service processed by PayPal. Prices are shown at checkout. Once your payment is captured and your number is assigned, the service is complete; refunds are provided only where required by law.

Disclaimer

The Site is provided "as is" without warranties. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the 3026 Project is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the Site.

Removal and suspension

We may remove content that violates these terms or applicable law. To request removal of your message, contact alive3026@163.com.
